The best products for to create wavy hair… in my opinion.
It’s summertime and who doesn’t want those beach babe waves?
Wavy hair is great, it’s easy to maintain and it’s easy to style. It’s also easy to get wrong and just create a big frizzy mess, that you’ll inevitably end up straightening when you give up.
I’m going to talk you through how I’d achieve a natural, wavy look in the salon. Natural being the key word as we’re not going to be using any hot tools, bar the hairdryer. Of course, you can use straightening irons to create big waves, but it can be tricky on your own and it’s always going to look a bit ‘too neat’ for the beach.

The first mistake
One of the most common mistakes is not using enough of the right product straight after towel drying your hair. I say right product as too much of the wrong product and your hair will just look lank, and potentially a little greasy.
My favourite products to use to create wavy hair are from the Sebastian Twisted product line.
Sebastian Twisted Curl Magnifier Cream
This cream based serum is going to tame the frizz, fight dryness, and create textured definition without weighing the hair down. It’s also going to boost elasticity within the hair using what Sebastian call their, Flexi Alg Complex, which is made from a red seaweed extract.
Use enough of this product so that you can feel it on your hair, 2-3 pumps should be enough for most hair types, and cover your hair evenly starting with the ends.
Sebastian Twisted Curl Lifter Foam
The second product of this dynamic duo is the Sebastian Twisted Curl Lifter Foam. Using the Flexi Alg Complex this mousse will further control frizz, and give you enough hold to style your natural curls, without leaving a sticky or crunchy feeling. This will also help to provide a longer lasting bounce to your look. Again with this product, 2-3 pumps should be enough for most hair types.
Now comb through and scrunch your hair into curls/waves. Strategically place into the head of your diffuser and switch onto a high heat with low air flow.
The most important part of all of this is to not touch or mess around with your hair as much as possible while drying. Once in the diffuser head, don’t move it around until you’re ready to move sections.
Repeat this process until you’ve covered all of your hair. It’s also important to leave 10-15% of the moisture in your hair, otherwise you can risk achieving an overly frizzy finish.
Once finished, leave the rest to air dry, use a little hairspray to protect it from the wind and voila!
