Service FAQs
Why do I need a skin/patch test?
The wellbeing of our guests is paramount so patch testing needs to be carried out 48 hours before any hair colour services requiring colour to skin contact. We need to update tests every 6 months.
Should you wash your hair before going to the hairdressers?
We always wash and condition our guests hair, both female & male clients. If you’re coming to see us for a hair colour or hair up, it’s best to wash it the day before you come in.
Do you have a rewards card?
Yes! We offer our quests a unique treat card, where you can collect points ranging between 5-10% of the services you purchase to spend on future visits!
Course FAQs
Why choose MAJOR over another hairdressing academy?
At the MAJOR Academy, we are constantly striving to overdeliver to the highest standard of hairdressing education available. With over 30 years of industry experience, and our educators still on the salon floor, you can place your trust in us to deliver real world training.
What level are our courses suitable for?
We have hairdressing courses to suit all levels from complete beginners, looking to broaden their skillset at home or break into a side hustle, to the super experienced stylists looking to hone their balayage technique or mens hairdressing skills.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are booked onto one of our beginner friendly courses, then all equipment will be provided for use on the day of the course. If you are booked onto one of our cutting courses then please bring your own scissors & a 2 or 3 varied sizes of cutting combs. All other equipment will be provided.
How long are MAJOR Hairdressing Academy courses?
Many of our hairdressing courses have different lengths depending on the complexity of the course. Our course days run from 10am-4pm and we recommend arriving 15 minutes before the course starts, time to grab a coffee!
Who are my educators?
Our educators are all current salon stylists on the floor with years and years of experience and industry knowledge under their belts.
Darcy who is our head educator is a Wella Master Colour Expert (MCE) & fully qualified NVQ assessor, and therefore is able to issue nationally recognised qualifications to student.
What age range are MAJOR Academy students?
For many years the hairdressing industry has only really been accessible to those who have entered at a young age, the majority through an apprenticeship. This is still the number one way to get into the industry for 16 – 17 year olds, but what if you’re looking to get into the hair & beauty industry later on in life?
That’s where our hairdressing courses are changing the game.
There is no age range or limit to our courses and we love training students of all ages.
Do I need to bring my own model?
If you have a model you’d like to work on then you’re more than welcome to bring them along.
If you need a model, please let us know at least 30 days in advance of the course date booking.
Can we tailor make a hairdressing course to your needs?
If you have a group of 3 or more then we can of course tailor a custom course to what you and your group would like to focus on, whether that be mens hair cutting & colour, balayage technique with toning theory, just get in touch!
